Mountain and Climate

Nepal’s mountains are where climate change is felt first, and where solutions matter most.

Why it matters

Mountain and Climate at Kathmandu Climate Week

Nepal’s climate story is deeply connected to the global climate system. Mountain ecosystems, rivers and the communities that depend on them face growing pressure from floods, landslides and changing seasons, as the Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi floods showed.

At KCW, this theme brings together the lived experience of mountain and Indigenous communities, farming practices that build resilience, and the evidence Nepal needs to speak for its mountains in global climate diplomacy.

What we will discuss

  • Lessons from the Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi floods
  • Climate justice and Indigenous Peoples
  • Organic and regenerative agriculture as frontline strategies
  • Nepal’s voice for mountains in global climate diplomacy
